Feel The Vibe Appoints Joanne Oppelt as New Chief Development Officer

Feel The Vibe announces the appointment of Joanne Oppelt, CNE, CDE, CNC, as Chief Development Officer.

Feel The Vibe announces the appointment of Joanne Oppelt, CNE, CDE, CNC, as Chief Development Officer. Oppelt will implement Feel The Vibe’s fundraising efforts, including establishing a community campaign cabinet for their Charlotteans Re-Connecting campaign. The three-year, five-million-dollar comprehensive campaign aims to improve individual and community outcomes by combatting social isolation, particularly among young adults in the greater Charlotte, NC area. Social isolation is the strongest and most reliable predictor of suicidal ideation, attempts, and completion. Only 39 percent of US adults feel very connected to others.

Joanne Oppelt looks forward to reaching out and building relationships with Feel The Vibe movement supporters. She will call and visit community leaders to get their feedback on the campaign and enlist their support. “I am honored to serve as Chief Development Officer for Feel The Vibe. I can’t think of a more worthy cause than helping people, especially those 18-29 years of age, to realize the benefits of social connectedness and better health. Feel The Vibe is one of the few organizations addressing community social isolation head-on. I am proud to be part of such an innovative team,” she says.

During Joanne’s thirty-plus years working in the nonprofit arena, she has held positions from volunteer to executive director in small, large, and midsized organizations. She builds organizational revenue streams by integrating fundraising with planning, marketing, operations, and financial systems. Her exceptional interpersonal, communication, planning, and organizational skills improve financial stability and sustainability for those she works with. Her unbridled passion for what she does is evident to all who meet her.

Joanne is a highly accomplished fundraiser. At Maternal and Family Health Services, (Wilkes-Barre, PA) she raised $200,000 in six months. At the March of Dimes Central Jersey Chapter (Cranbury, NJ), Joanne oversaw the grants review process and ensuing funding allocation. She oversaw a $1.2 million federal grant at Prevent Child Abuse New Jersey (Newark, NJ). Joanne raised $14.8 million at Community Access Unlimited (Elizabeth, NJ) 42 percent representing new funding. At Caring Contact (Westfield, NJ), she doubled contributed revenue and increased assets tenfold. Joanne raised $1,675,000 in four months as a consultant for Sound Start Foundation (Mountain Lakes, NJ), and $2.2 million in six months for HopeLink of Southern Nevada (Henderson, NV).

Joanne is the author, coauthor, or editor of over twenty books. She served on the New Jersey Behavioral Health Planning Council by gubernatorial appointment. By Freeholder appointment, Joanne served on the Union County Alliance Steering Subcommittee, of which she was president. She has also been a grants reviewer for the United States Department of Education and the Union County Department of Human Services.

She was a founding member of the Union County Nonprofit Consortium and has also been a volunteer trainer for the Center for Nonprofit Success, CharityChannel’s CharityUniversity, Grants Professional Association—New Jersey Chapter, Harness Giving, myCPE, National Association for Nonprofit Organizations & Executives, New Jersey Environmental Forum, North Jersey Health Collaborative, and Union County Nonprofit Consortium.

Joanne holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Bethany University, where she graduated cum laude. Her master’s degree is in health administration from Wilkes University, where she graduated with distinction.

Joanne and her retired minister husband live in Florida on the Space Coast. They enjoy traveling to visit their three children and six grandchildren whenever they can. They are also avid national park fans, with close access to the Cape Canaveral National Seashore, where they can often be found observing the local wildlife.
